Strength, Speed, Esthetics: 3M™ Zirconia Goes Chairside

Benco Dental introduces doctor-recommended 3M Chairside Zirconia, a CEREC® compatible block with the ability to go from scan to seat in less than one hour.

Strength and speed you need, esthetics you want. New 3M Chairside Zirconia boasts the high strength that restorations demand, with a fast sintering time of approximately 20 minutes for a thin-walled crown. All that, plus easy matching and excellent translucency.

3M Chairside Zirconia is strong enough for use in a single-unit crown and a three-unit bridge restoration with one pontic supported on each side by a crown. With a high flexural strength of over 800 MPa, 3M Chairside Zirconia stands out. It also requires a low minimum wall thickness of just 0.8 mm, enabling a practitioner to carry out less invasive preparations and preserve more tooth structure. In addition, 3M Chairside Zirconia’s fracture toughness upholds stringent ISO standards. Plus, it has a fast sintering time of as little as approximately 20 minutes for a thin-walled crown, when used with the CEREC® SpeedFire furnace.

Available in two pre-shaded block sizes in eight shades for easy shade matching, 3M Chairside Zirconia enables a practitioner to provide patients beautiful smiles with natural-looking dental restorations from a Chairside Zirconia. Each zirconia block comes pre-shaded in Bleach, A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, C1 and D2 designed to match VITA® classical shades. The result? Easy matching of 3M Chairside Zirconia to each patient’s tooth shade.

Dentists recommend it. During a 3M field evaluation last year with 36 participants from Germany and the U.S., 95 percent reported they are satisfied or very satisfied with the fit of 3M Chairside Zirconia restorations. Eighty-three percent rated it better or much better overall than the chairside material they are currently using, and 83 percent rated the translucency better or much better than the chairside zirconia material they are currently using.

Adding to the simplicity, 3M provides two cements to choose from, depending on preferences and the case at hand. These easy-to-use, reliable products offer versatile cement options for chairside zirconia products. 3M RelyXTM Luting Plus Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement is everyday easy, with a 5-second tack light cure feature for easy excess cement removal and higher bond strength than conventional glass ionomer. 3M RelyXTM Unicem 2 Self-Adhesive Resin Cement offers all-around reliability as the world’s most clinically proven self-adhesive resin cement that saves time by eliminating etching, priming and bonding steps.

“With Chairside Zirconia, 3M is delivering on the innovation and promise of chairside dentistry by providing remarkable efficiency without compromising strength of esthetics,” said Terry Barrett, Chief Marketing Officer for Benco Dental. “The ability to go from scan to seat in an hour with a product from a trusted company like 3M is an option we’re delighted to offer our customers.”

Compact, Smart, Affordable 3D from ACTEON: Introducing X-Mind® prime

Real innovation meets true simplicity in a zero-footprint unit that installs practically anywhere in one hour and offers 2D and 3D capability.

The remarkably compact, lightweight, wall-mounted X-Mind prime 3D CBCT from ACTEON puts advanced capabilities within reach of more dental practices—especially those needing, or simply wanting, a unit that occupies less room.

X-Mind prime offers so much capability, in so little space. The latest addition to ACTEON’s 2D and 3D CBCT panoramic product line blends cutting-edge technology with enhanced simplicity. It demonstrates remarkable ingenuity by combining 2D and 3D technologies into a unit the size of a small chair. Yet, because it’s wall mounted, takes up no floor space.

Offering a wide range of panoramic (24) and CBCT (32) options, X-Mind prime covers many clinical applications, including implantology, endodontics, TMJ and sinus imaging. Practitioners can also scan 3D objects such as plaster models and silicone impressions, opening up a range of new possibilities.

When it comes to installation, X-Mind prime is especially flexible and designed to fit into even narrow spaces. At just 148 pounds, its light weight means it can go places where larger, heavier units can’t. X-Mind prime ships fully assembled. The speed of installation is unmatched: one box, one technician, two steps and that’s all. It does not interrupt a practice’s daily work and operations, so there’s no need to turn the schedule upside down on the day it arrives.

Another benefit of the unit: ease of use. Alignment lasers make correct patient positioning simple. Telescopic columns are adjustable from the simple control panel, and the unit is accessible for wheelchair users. Automatic chin support recognition, based on the type of operation selected, means error-free patient positioning.

The software keeps it simple, too. ACTEON Imaging Suite presents fully integrated, advanced and open architecture. With intuitive navigation and advanced functionality, it manages images for scanning and viewing as received from all ACTEON imaging devices and more. One minute is all it takes to edit an implant report.

In addition to support from Benco Dental, training for operation, patient positioning, and software can be provided in person by the local ACTEON rep. Plus, the ACTEON staff of technical service reps are just a phone call away to provide remote support if needed. Training videos may be found at http://www.acteongroup.com

“We’re committed to offering best of breed products to our customers,” said Sue Evans, Director of Equipment Merchandising for Benco Dental. “The X-Mind prime combines space efficiency, ease of installation and operation, and affordability with genuine overall capability.”

No Inventory, No Sales Tax Worries: New Ways For Docs To Dispense Highly-Rated PRO-SYS® VarioSonic®

There’s a better way for patients to try an ADA Accepted power toothbrush right in their dentist’s office—and a new, hassle-free way for doctors to offer it.

The PRO-SYS CheckUp program delivers everything necessary to display and demonstrate VarioSonic. An attractive countertop display contains a working VarioSonic unit, brush heads and patient brochures. The demonstration and disinfection protocol is fast, simple and effective, using a fresh barrier sleeve and new brush head for each session. Not only do patients get to try it themselves, they also benefit from professional coaching during their visit to get the most from VarioSonic later when using it at home.

Doctors who don’t wish to maintain an inventory, or worry about collecting sales tax, can also participate in PRO-SYS Patient Direct. Benco Dental does all the work. It’s as simple as placing the order online on the patient’s behalf. Benco Dental will then ship items directly and credit the practice a percentage of the sale price.

CheckUp offers everything practices need to display and demonstrate VarioSonic.

Why VarioSonic? It’s an advanced, value-packed power toothbrush that competes with units costing much more. It earned the highest possible rating from The Dental Advisor (+++++, Excellent) based on a 96% overall score. It also won an Editor’s Choice nod, which is reserved exclusively for “a unique, significant product.”

Evaluators commented specifically on its choice of distinct cleaning modes (“I liked the option of 5 intensities”) and overall satisfaction with the product (“Very nice brush. Works well, is quiet and easy to use”). Patients called out VarioSonic’s long battery life (“Held its charge for my 10-day trip!”), comfort (“easier on my gums than my normal brush,” “light weight with calm vibrations”) and dexterity (“I was able to easily reach my back teeth”).

Even more remarkable: PRO-SYS VarioSonic’s suggested retail price to patients is $69—significantly less expensive than competing models that can’t offer the same flexibility, features or top-rated performance.

VarioSonic is among a limited number of power toothbrushes to earn the ADA Seal of Acceptance. It delivers the perfect, essential combination of five unique brush heads and five distinct cleaning modes for a total of 25 possible intensities. The automatic timer feature guides users through each quadrant to ensure brushing for the optimal length of time. Plus, battery life is remarkable: up to a month under normal use when fully charged. VarioSonic is portable, easy to carry and comes with a travel case included. Each unit it backed by a one-year warranty.

WHAT DOES AN EDISON AWARD SIGNIFY?

Being recognized with an Edison Award has become one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business. The awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements that changed the world, garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents and made him a household name around the world.

“After 32 years, it never ceases to amaze us how innovations that we could only dream about become our reality. Once again, the winners created innovations that are revolutionizing industries and becoming indispensable,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards.

The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards was judged by a panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medical.

One of the evening’s many highlights was the presentation of the prestigious Edison Achievement Award to Ginni Rometty, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of IBM. The award honors innovation leaders and business executives who have made a significant and lasting contribution to innovation throughout their careers. Over the past seven years, Ms. Rometty has led IBM through the most significant transformation in its history. The company has become the world leader in AI and cloud computing for business and garnered the most patents in history.

In addition to the Awards Gala, the annual Edison Awards program encompassed a full-day Meet the Innovators Forum and the Innovators’ Showcase, which offered guests a hands-on experience with many of the winning products including IBM Q (quantum), DropKey Studio in a Bag, Power Dolphin and more.
