3 ways your office style can save the world (and easily update your look) #styleandsubstance

When Designtex visits the CenterPoint Design team at Benco Dental headquarters, it’s always a stylepalooza.

A major player in the world of textiles and applied materials, Designtex offers exciting fabrics, luxurious finishes and endless possibilities for the dental practice environment. Designtex offers an evolving catalog of over 8,000 materials, each one more innovative than the next.

This week, Designtex’s David Sims and Patrick McNulty shared three ways a dental practice can inject color, texture and a feel-good vibe with the interior designers at Benco Dental.

  1. WANNABE ECO-FRIENDLY? TRY THIS FABRIC THAT YOU CAN FEEL GOOD ABOUT. Designtex’s Wannabe (shown), a felt material made to look like wool, is a post-consumer recycled polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. Ten or more bottles are repurposed to create a yard of the fabric.

“You can use them on walls or anywhere you’d like to add impact,” said David Sims, Designtex Sales Representative.

“A feature wall or reception space would benefit from this tactile material,” adds CenterPoint Interior Designer Mandy Welman.

“These commercial-grade fabrics are created with the dental practice in mind; most will be bleach-solution cleanable and able to endure the wear and tear of an office environment,” says Welman.

2. IS DI-NOC DE-LIGHTFUL? DENTISTRY’S DESIGNERS SURE THINK SO.
Why is 3M’s self-adhesive film (shown) a responsible choice.

CenterPoint Design’s Mandy Welman says, “DI-NOC offers the ability to repurpose a larger piece of furniture – such as a reception desk or custom dental cabinetry – rather than put it into a landfill.”

DI-NOC has the ability to conform to a variety of flat or curved surfaces, which allows you to refresh walls, doors, panels, ceilings, furniture and virtually any other surface.

It works quickly and cost effectively.

“Your practice is up and running almost immediately after installation,” explains Welman. “It also has low VOCs, which means your patients are not inhaling harmful fumes. “

3. COMING SOON: Fabrics for your interior seating will make patients feel better while they wait and staff feel energized while they work.
What makes the magic? Celliant® (above) a revolutionary, patented technology from Hologenix that  harnesses and recycles the body’s natural energy through the medium of fibers.

Last year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) determined Celliant products  to be medical devices because they temporarily promote increased local blood flow at the site of application in healthy individuals.

According to Seth Casden, Hologenix CEO:

“Celliant-engineered products are the first of their kind that the FDA has designated as medical devices. Our technology can be used in everyday products – t-shirts, clothing, bedding, even airplane seats – to create an increase in local blood flow thereby increasing energy, boosting performance and speeding muscle recovery.”

“We believe that Celliant is a truly disruptive technology that has transformational applications for textiles,” Casden said. “We’re currently evaluating additional applications of Celliant in the healthcare space, where, for example, people who suffer from diabetes might benefit from increased blood flow to body tissue.”
