Celebrating reserves of strength on Mother’s Day

This week, Simin Fallah joined her daughter Dr. Niki Fallah for her @theIncisalEdge #40Under40 debut during a high fashion photo experience in New York City.

“She didn’t want to leave me for Mother’s Day,” said the senior Fallah.

Understandable for any mother daughter duo, but for these two women, spending time together takes priority. Though monumental achievements call for celebration — Dr. Fallah (Dr. Niki to her young patients) opened Mills-Peninsula Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontica little over a month ago in Millbrae, CA — the two women have leaned  on each other and their reserves of strength to remain focused within the past year.

In June of 2015, they lost to lung cancer their driving force,  Dr. Farrokh Fallah, a respected psychologist, and most importantly, a dedicated husband and father to Simin and Dr. Niki, respectively.

“To honor him and his legacy, I wanted to see this through,” said Dr. Niki, on opening her practice.

That she did.

In addition to being selected as one of America’s Best Young Dentists by Incisal Edge magazine, Dr. Niki was honored as one of the Inspiring Women in Surgery on Instagram.

Meet Dr. Niki @nikif23 – a stunning Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist from the Bay Area. Dr. Niki obtained her DDS from @uscdentistry & then went on to do her pediatric residency training & earn an MS degree at @ucsfdentistry. In a few weeks, Dr. Niki will touch her lifelong dream of opening her own pediatric dental office – a facility that will house a specially-designed surgical suite for the safe treatment of complex pediatric cases, including children with special needs & medical issues. The facility will have an anesthesiologist as Dr. Niki “strives to establish an emotionally & physically safe environment for both child & their parents. Every child deserves a healthy start & I feel honored to be able to be a part of that.” It was during her residency at UCSF where Dr. Niki grew a great appreciation for the O.R. as a crucial part of pediatric dental treatment – she operated regularly on children w/ no other options due to cardiac or other health issues. Niki loves the challenge of pediatric dentistry – it gives her the opportunity to use her technical skill & compassion to connect w/ children & build lasting relationships. Dr. Niki had a very strong male influence in her life who encouraged & inspired her to reach for her dreams – her father. Sadly, her father recently passed away from cancer, but Dr. Niki is poised to bring her dream to life in his honor – she says, “I feel him in my heart & I know he is with me every day.” Outside of building a practice, Dr. Niki is a passionate yogi, ballet dancer, & blogger. Dr. Niki lives with no regrets & no apologies about being a female success – “I had to go the extra mile to prove my intelligence & capabilities b/c I was a young attractive woman…Even today, I am questioned ‘you’re the doctor?’…and I can honestly say there isn’t a greater feeling to answer with ‘YES I AM’”. I am extremely pleased to spotlight this amazing girl who has endured a very rough time – there’s a unique interplay between being on the cusp of your dream, & losing the very person that you wanted to see that dream realized. Dr. Niki – your father would be very proud! #ILookLikeASurgeon #PediatricDentistry #Dentistry #OperatingRoom #ORLife
