The Mineral County Health Department wants to hear from anyone interested in receiving services at a weekly dental clinic, according to a story by Liz Beavers for the Mineral Daily News Tribune.
“We’ll start making a list (of prospective patients) now and once we get a hygienist and assistant hired, they can begin making appointments,” health department administrator A.Jay Root told the News Tribune recently.
Set to open within the Health Department building February 12, the clinic will feature new equipment purchased with the help of a $72,000 grant obtained by the Western Md. Area Health Education Center (AHEC). This was added to some equipment that had already been donated by the late Dr. Donald Kiser when he retired. The Mineral County Commission pitched in $15,000, as well, which will be matched by the health department, according to the Mineral Daily News Tribune report.
On Friday, Benco Dental‘s Dave Unzicker and Angel Candelario, of Fulton, Maryland, shown, were on site installing the equipment. They are shown above, in a photo by Tribune’s Liz Beavers, in one of the exam rooms with Mineral County Commission president Richard Lechliter and Mineral County Health Department administrator A. Jay Root.
According to Root, the clinic will be open every Friday from 4-9 p.m., in addition to one Saturday a month from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information about the clinic, or to be placed on a waiting list for an appointment, call the health department at 304-788-1321.
