Midmark supports older adults with #FallforSmiles

Dayton Daily News’ Dave Larsen reported that Midmark Corp. will sponsor the 2015 #FallforSmiles campaign, which runs through the end of October, company officials announced Monday.

Midmark, a Dayton-based dental equipment manufacturer, said older adults are facing a crisis when it comes to oral health, with 10,000 Americans reaching retirement age every day and no dental coverage available through Medicare.

The annual Fall for Smiles campaign encourages Americans to keep a healthy mouth through daily brushing and flossing, regular dental visits, a healthy diet and avoiding tobacco products.

Studies show that dental health is key to overall health. “New research continues to demonstrate the link between poor oral health and many chronic health conditions which affect our quality of life,” said Eric Shirley, vice president and general manager of Midmark’s Dental Division, in a statement.

Free resources for dental offices, adults and children are available on the campaign’s website at oralhealthamerica.org/fallforsmiles.

Headquartered at the University of Dayton River Campus building at 1700 S. Patterson Blvd., Midmark manufactures medical, dental and veterinary equipment. The company has 1600 workers worldwide, including 850 at its Versailles campus in Darke County.
