Xylitol consumption by pregnant women might have positive effects on their children, according to a report in Evidenced-Based Dentistry.

Nature.com stated that in 11 studies published between 2000 and 2012, involving a total of 601 patients:

“Xylitol consumption by mothers with high Mutans Streptococci (MS) levels was associated with a significant reduction in the mother-to-child transmission of salivary Mutans Streptococci.”
