Sick of #Halloween yet? Don’t quit until you’ve tried a mini mummy.

If you haven’t figured it out by the sheer volume of seasonal posts on, this MolarMuse revels in Halloween.

The month in review (who am I kidding, I started in September):  (Idea courtesy BencoDental Video Coordinator Eric Larsen.)

But when a colleague shared “52 Best and Worst Halloween Candies- Ranked” by, which illustrates morsel by morsel, the dark side of bite-sized treats, I felt obligated to share. (Note, only one tongue-in-cheek treat description — for Now and Later Fun Size — even mentions dental woes: “…these childhood favorites should be saved for way, way later despite their low calorie count. Why? Because it’s taffy, one of the worst foods for your teeth.”)

Poor taffy gets such a bad rap.

On the flip side, just a few hours later, a Tweet from The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry® (AACD) @TheAACD bolstered my spirits with its positive collection of holiday confections. The AACD created a Pinterest Board of “healthier candy and snack ideas that won’t ruin your smile this Halloween!”

Benco Dental Marketing Communications Manager Rachel A. Pugh: This one’s for you. Happy Halloween!

Apples peeled to resemble mini mummies (shown, courtesy, pumpkin-profile sweet potato fries, zucchini gummies (the verdict’s still out on these) and candy corn-inspired fruit cups (my Halloween nemesis, but even I’d give this version a chance.) All this and more can be found in the AACD’s compilation.

In a nutshell: Expect a few more Halloween-inspired posts. Pick one, very tiny Halloween treat and enjoy. Or, don’t blow your diet and eat a mini mummy instead. (@AACD, you rock!)

Maybe, just maybe, enjoy the cheesy riddle inside a Laffy Taffy wrapper and share it with your boss, if she’s a taffy junkie like mine.

Prior to her career as BencoDental’sMarketing Communications Specialist, MolarMuse, better known as Kristie Grier Ceruti,  created her first haunted garage at
